๐Ÿ“šTop Ten Tuesday: New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2020

Happy Top Ten Tuesday, friends!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ThatArtsyReaderGirl. Each week, there is a new topic for which we list ten answers. This week’s topic is… New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2020!

New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2020

VE Schwab: The Near Witch
TNW was the first book I read of Schwab’s. I read TNW for the Fraterfest RAT and I really loved it. It was perfect for the spooky season. I have loved all of the Schwab books that I have read since! See my review for The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue here.

Leigh Bardugo: Six of Crows
I loved Six of Crows! See my review here.

Meghan Spooner: Hunted
I loved this take on Beauty and the Beast. I am definitely a sucker for Beauty and the Beast retellings.

Tricia Levenseller: Daughter of the Pirate King
I loved DOPK! Enemies to lovers, badass women… sign me up!

Mariana Zapata: From Lukov with Love
Loved this! I want to read more of her this year. See my review here.

Danielle Steel: The Right Time
This book was a wonderful read and I would love to read more of Danielle Steel… If anyone has any suggestions, let me know in the comments!

Maureen Johnson: Truly, Devious
I love a good mystery! I was hooked!

Sara Raasch: Set Fire to the Gods
While it was a little slow at the beginning, the ending had me flipping through the pages like a madwoman!

Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express
I enjoyed it, but I didn’t love it! Don’t hate meeeee๐Ÿ˜‚

I hope you enjoyed my TTT post! What new authors did you discover in 2020? Let me know in the comments. Be sure to link your TTT in the comments so I don’t miss it!

  1. Brilliant list! I love Leigh Bardugo and Iโ€™ve always wanted to try V.E Schwabโ€™s books (although they seem a little daunting!). I seem to be really bad at following the ttt prompts lol so this week I tried top ten bookish things that annoy me. Although there could have been SO MANY MORE ๐Ÿ˜ซ Hereโ€™s my post in case youโ€™re interested ๐Ÿ™‚ https://hundredsandthousandsofbooks.blog/2021/01/26/ttt-26-1-top-ten-bookish-things-i-hate/

    • I can see how they would feel daunting! They are wonderfully written, though. I do hope you get the chance to read her books… I have enjoyed all of what I have read from her thus far!

I love that idea for a prompt!! No worries about changing the prompts… I enjoyed reading your post! ๐Ÿ˜Š It was very relatable!!

  2. Truly, devious was fun! I still need to read the sequel…

I’ve never read Murder on the Orient Express, but I love the idea! ๐Ÿ™‚ After seeing the latest movie version I was tempted to pick it up, but haven’t yet.

    • I need to watch the movie now that I have read the book! Even though I havent watched the movie, it was how I found out about the book ๐Ÿ˜‚ I hope you enjoy it when you pick it up! Thanks for stopping by, Greg!

  3. “Set Fire to the Gods” was recommended to me so I’m really looking forward to pick that one up! And I love all of V.E. Schwabs books! So far none of them disappointed. XD Great list! Sorry you didn’t enjoy “Murder on the Orient Express”! *lol*

    • Heyyy V! I feel like I haven’t heard from you in a while but then again I have also been sooooo bad at blog hopping and keeping up with everyone๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. My life has been crazy recently. Set Fire to the Gods was a pretty good read! It was cool blend between gladiator and, like, air bender type stuff. I am excited to see where the series goes!

Hahah, I felt so bad when I was like I didn’t totally love Murder on the Orient Express because Agatha Christie is HUGE in mystery novels. I enjoyed it but it just didn’t have that wow factor for me unfortunately๐Ÿ˜‚

      Thanks for stopping by!๐Ÿ˜Š

      • Haha! Same! That’s why I decided to drop by and leave a comment. ๐Ÿ˜‰ To keep up with blog hopping is always difficult but I try my best. XD Sorry to hear your life has been crazy. Hopefully it will get a little less crazy soon. And that sounds like a great mixture!

I know what you mean! She’s so famous but I guess a lot of classic authors are. So it’s okay not to love them every once in a while. ;-P You’re welcome! I hope we’ll read each other more in future! *lol*

  4. Yeeees, I absolutely LOVE Zapata. She is the queen of slow burns and I never used to like slow burn romances before her books but now I can’t get enough of them ๐Ÿ˜ I am a huge Schwab fan but didn’t manage to get around to reading Addie last year but hopefully I will in 2021! Great list ๐Ÿ˜Š

  6. I really need to get to Six of Crows, I’ve heard that it’s a better version of The Gilded Wolves, which gets me all intrigued. V. E. Schwab is one of those authors I’ve been meaning to pick up for years, and I still haven’t- maybe 2021 will be the year it happens!

    • I have not read The Gilded Wolves… I should though ๐Ÿ˜‚ I hope you enjoy Six of Crows when you read it! It is a wild ride. Hahah I feel that. There are so many other authors I have been meaning to read but haven’t yet. But 2021 is our year!! We got this ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • Six of Crows is ahhmazing! I hope you get the chance to read it and that you love it! So glad to hear that you also enjoyed the Truly, Devious series! I am excited to read her next installment, The Box in the Woods!

Thank you for stopping by, Alyssa!๐Ÿ˜Š

  7. Oh, too bad that you didn’t like Murder on the Orient Express! I love Hercule Poirot but I can absolutely understand why you didn’t love it. It can get quite tedious. I feel like it really depends on the book. Maybe you will have more luck with another one. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Or what I highly recommend: Watch the Agatha Christie’s Poirot series with David Suchet. Those movies are great!
Looks like you have found quite a few great authors last year. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Yes, I am definitely willing to try another of her mystery novels! I did enjoy Murder on the Orient Express, I just didn’t love it (and I hate to say that because Agatha Christie is, like, the queen of cozy mysteries and who am I to not be in love with one of her books ๐Ÿ˜‚)! I will have to check those out! Thank you for the recommendations!! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  9. So happy to hear you enjoyed Schwab and Bardugo’s books. Those two are some of my fantasy favourites. I can’t say I’ve read an Agatha Christie book myself yet, I seem to struggle with the classics is I’m honest.
