Meet the Blogger Tag👋🏼

Thank you so much to Leslie @BooksAreTheNewBlack for tagging me in this post. I feel a little badly because she tagged me two weeks ago and I just saw it at the end of the week last week😂. But hey, better late than never, right?! If you are not familiar with Leslie’s blog, or even if you are, show her some love and check out her blog. She has wonderful content and she is SO sweet. 💗

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who tagged you
  • Mention the creator Lauren @ Lala’s Book Reviews
  • Tag as many (or as few) people as you’d like
  • Have fun and get to know one another!

Introduction:

Introduce yourself!
Ohhhhh boy. Where to begin? Best to start with my name, I suppose. 😂 My name is Maya M. I have been blogging for about 4-5 years now. I am an incoming medical student in the United States and I am very excited to start that new chapter of my life. I am also a bit scared. 😂 I absolutely love to read. Always have and, likely, always will! Another passion of mine besides medicine and reading is figure skating. I was a competitive figure skater for 13-14 years! I miss it.🥲 Lastly, a fun fact about me is that I am a twin!

Something most everyone wants to know…do you have any pets?
I have 5 dogs! Gatsby, Boo Arthur Radley (BRadley), Rio, Ryder (Magic Carpet Ryder), and Randy. They are cavalier King Charles spaniels.🐶

What is your favorite thing to drink?
I love tea. I grew up drinking PG tips English tea with milk and sugar so that is my favorite; however, I tend to drink more green tea (about 2 cups per day) now. It is less sweet! Fun fact: In my undergrad, we did research on antimutagenic (anti-cancerous) properties of green tea and found that green tea does have antimutagenic properties!

What is your favorite season?
I love fall. 🍂🍁 Sweater weather? Boots? Chilly days with long socks, an oversized sweater, and a book in hand? Um yes, sign me up.

Do you have any special talents?
I can move my ears back and forth… 😂

Blogging:

When and why did you start your blog?
I started my blog in 2016 right before I started undergrad. I was inspired by a friend to blog (she blogged about fashion). At that time, I had really been wanting to share my love of books, reading and storytelling with others, but, at the time, I did not really have any friends that liked to read. It has been great to connect with the reading and blogging community!

What is something that you wish you knew about blogging when you first started?
You do not have to post every day/you can take breaks: This is something that I still struggle with to this day – knowing that there will be times when blogging as to take the back burner. Life is busy and messy and, sometimes, we cannot do it all. And that is okay.

What has been the hardest part about blogging?
For me, I feel that coming up with new content is quite difficult. I created a weekly meme (Flashback Friday), but I struggled with individualized or “one time” posts.

What has been the most rewarding part of blogging?
The friends I have made – all of you!💗

Do you write your posts ahead of time or write them the day of posting?
It really depends on what I have going on/what I am in the mood for. Usually, I draft the posts on the same day! If I am really busy and I anticipate not having time the day of the post, then I will draft the post the night before. I suspect that I will be doing this a lot during med school!

Reading:

Who are your top 5 favourite authors?
Jennifer L. Armentrout
Sarah J. Maas
Laura Thalassa
Becca Fitzpatrick
Victoria Schwab

What genre do you read the most?
Fantasy- YA and NA

What genre surprised you by how much you love it?
I really like historical fiction. I know that, in some ways, this falls under the umbrella of fantasy, but I can really appreciate the way authors weave in historical events or historical aspects into their novels. One of my favorite historical fiction books is: Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly.

Which popular book didn’t live up to the hype for you
I am not sure if the book is considered “popular” but the author is quite popular – The Stand by Steven King. It just was not “it” (ha-ha) for me. No pun intended there as I never read It. 😂

Who are some popular authors you haven’t read?
Colleen Hoover (BUT I am planning on reading her – I have two of her books (Ugly Love + It Ends with Us)

What upcoming release are you excited to read?
Queen of Myth and Monsters by Scarlett St. Clair

Do you listen to music while reading?
Yes, I do! I typically listen to instrumental (trailer music) but occasionally a song with lyrics will call out to me to be matched with a book I am going to be reading. If you also like to listen to music while reading, be sure to check out my Monday Music Match Up meme. Click here to check out a Monday Music Match Up post.

Where else can we find you online?
For right now, just here on WordPress. 🙂 My twin sis and I are actually in the process of making a YouTube channel for medical school, but I might also incorporate some bookish stuff! Stay posted for more information on that, if you are interested.
