📚Top Ten Tuesday: Characters Whose Job I Wish I Had🤔

Happy TTT everyone!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ThatArtsyReaderGirl. Each week there is a new topic for which we post 10 items! You can find the list of topics and more information about the meme: here. Today’s topic is Characters Whose Job I Wish I Had! They way I organized is the book title, the character, and corresponding job I’d like to have.

Servant of the Crown by Melissa McShane: the Royal Librarian (Alison, the MC is the assistant to the Royal Librarian but go big or go home right 😂)

Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout: Ivy Morgan – Fae hunter/member of the Order

Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco: Audrey Rose – cadaveric dissection and solving crimes (I have dissected cadavers during my time of study at university and it was such an honor to learn from the human body first hand. It is an experience I will never forget nor take for granted.)

A Court of Wings and Ruin by SJM: work in the House Library with the priestesses! or be Rhysand’s and the Night Court’s High Lady.😏

Haven by Kristi Cook: Violet McKenna – student at Winterhaven, a school for the paranormal (I’ve always thought that I would be an empath if I were at the school)
***If you read Vampire Academy and liked it, I think you would definitely like Haven! I have re-read Haven several times because I loved it so much. Haven has a pretty neat take on vampires and other paranormal stuff, which is why I liked it so much. And also Violet’s love interest, Aiden. 😂

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: Rose Hathaway – Dhampir … because who wouldn’t want to be a badass evil vampire slayer and good vampire protector? 😂

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: I would just want to be one of the Crows so I could be close to Kaz … I love Kaz😍

Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller: Alosa – It would be so much fun to go on adventures at sea! And be a badass with a sword.

What are characters’ jobs that you wish you had?! Let me know in the comments below! Be sure to link your TTT post in the comments as well so I don’t miss it. 😊

📚Top Ten Tuesday: Mardi Gras

Happy Tuesday, everyone!
It is looking pretty snowy here today! Despite the snow, I still managed to get to the store and secure my copy of A Court of Silver Flames, which was released today! It was a bit of an adventure not only because the roads were quite snowy (the roads were not terrible but they certainly weren’t the best) but also because Barnes and Noble wasn’t supposed to open until 12pm due to the inclement weather. I got there at 9:30am (I know, it was a bit early but I was excited okay 😂) as they usually open at 10am. Luckily I checked the store hours posted on their door or else I would have been sitting there (in the car) for nothing (because I have work). I promptly made my way over to Target and secured my copy there, thankfully! And thankfully today is another late start day for work. Anyway, I am soooo excited to read ACOSF! 🥰😍😁 If you are reading it, were you able to get your copy?!

Today’s post is Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ThatArtsyReaderGirl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together” -Jana. Each week, there is a new topic and this week’s topic is in the spirit of Mardi Gras: Purple, Yellow, and/or Green Book Covers!

The Hand on The Wall by Maureen Johnson CR: HarperCollins Children’s Publishing
The Unhoneymooners
Meet Cute
Tales From the Hinterland (The Hazel Wood, #2.5)
The Bone Witch (The Bone Witch, #1)
Awaken (Abandon, #3)

Do you celebrate Mardi Gras? I have never celebrated before but I think it would be fun to partake in the festivities one year. What are your favorite books with purple, yellow or green covers? Have you read any of the ones I’ve listed above? Let me know in the comments below!

📚Top Ten Tuesday: Resolutions/Hopes for 2021

Happy Tuesday, everyone!
I hope you are all having a good week so far! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ThatArtsyReaderGirl. Each week, there is a new topic for which we list 10 pertinent items in our TTT post! For more information, see the TTT information page here.

Today’s topic is resolutions/hopes for 2021 (bookish or not) so I decided just to do a combination of all of those things. I apologize if some of these are repeats from my 2021 Reading and Blog Goals post, but I am not all that creative when it comes to this sort of thing so here we are 😂

Resolutions/Hopes for 2021

  1. Work out more🏋🏽‍♀️
Because I currently work from home, I am sitting for a long time and I find myself restless during the evenings or my body achy from disuse… and it is just uncomfortable! I got a gym membership at the beginning of the year and, since my sister already works out daily, we have been going together! 🥰
  2. Get outside🌲🌺
As I mentioned, I work from home so I find myself inside all day and all night and I am not the kind of person than can handle being inside for long periods of time. Thankfully, I have a huge window and a beautiful view in my room! But even still, I need to just take charge and go for a walk. 😂 Sometimes, I just feel so lazy and tired that I say “maybe tomorrow…” As my dad would say, “the (wo)man who said tomorrow never came😂
  3. Stay present🧘🏽‍♀️
I definitely tend to be on the worry-wart side of things and because of that, it gets hard to stay in the present.
  4. Read 100 books📚
  5. Explore more genres
  6. I have gotten pretty wrapped up in only reading fantasy, but I want to get back into dystopian and sci-fi novels, to name a couple. Any book recs are always welcome!
  7. Write more book reviews
  8. More creative posts
I recently started working on a post that explores books I have previously read and music that I have “matched” or listened to while I read that book. See my Six of Crows book review for an example/further explanation!
  9. Try recipes/more baking👩🏽‍🍳
I love to cook and I am always for trying out new recipes! My sister and I have an air fryer and we have made some pretty delicious food in there (zucchinie fries, regular fries, potato fries). I really want to try baking muffins or sweet loaves in there at some point!
  10. Write more📓
I keep a journal and I fell off the wagon with writing every night so I really want to get back on that. I also wrote a book and I really want to re-work it… but it is so daunting😂 I love writing though so I really want to get back into it.

What are some of your 2021 resolutions? Let me know in the comments below! Be sure to link your TTT in the comments as well.

📚Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2021🤩

Happy Top Ten Tuesday, everyone!
I hope you all are having a great week so far. Before we get started, I thought I would provide a little Tuesday funny for you all:

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ThatArtsyReaderGirl. Each week, there is a new topic for which we post 10 pertinent items. For more information, see the TTT info page here. Today’s topic is “Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2021!” I am pretty behind on series so there are not too many novels that I am anticipating to be released right now. But there are a few that I can come up with off the top of my head! I decided to mix it up and give a little title to each of my selections. I hope it makes sense. Because I work all day tomorrow, I am drafting up this post the night before and I am on little brain power after work. 😂 Apologies in advance for anything that doesn’t make sense!

  1. 😫Book I have Waited the Longest to be Released: A Court of Silver Flames by SJM
I am really excited to read another SJM novel and I absolutely adore ACOTAR so I am excited to see how this book is. I am not a huge fan of Nesta, but maybe SJM will change my mind. 😊
  2. 🤩Book I Literally Can’t Wait to be Released (p1): Gods and Monsters by Shelby Mahurin
I loved Serpent and Dove (as you all know since I won’t shut up about it😂), enjoyed Blood and honey (that ending broke me) and I am excited to see how this whole thing ends!
  3. 🤩Book I Literally Can’t Wait to be Released (p2): Blessed Monsters (Something Dark and Holy, #3) by Emily Duncan
I have no idea where this is going to go so I am highly anticipating the finale!
  4. 🧐YA Mystery Book I am Excited For: The Box in the Woods by Maureen Johnson
I enjoyed the first book and loved the last two books. Overall, I loved the story/mystery. At first, I didn’t love Stevie’s character but she definitely grew on me in the final book (I say final because it was the last book that involved the Ellingham murders). I am very interested to see if The Box in the Woods intrigues me as much as the first three Truly Devious books did!
  5. 😬2021 Release I Will Read but Am Not Too Excited For: The Queen Will Betray You by Sarah Henning
I found The Princess Will Save You enjoyable and entertaining, but I am definitely not jumping out of my skin for the next book. That’s just me though!

Reading update: I finished Addie LaRue and wow. The ending! Near the end, I was in tears and by the very last page I was grinning with the promise of triumph! I think Addie LaRue was the best book of VE Schwab’s that I have read so far.

What are some 2021 releases that you are anticipating? Let me know in the comments below. Be sure to put the link your TTT post in the comments so I don’t miss it!🥰

📚Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Books of 2020😷

Happy Tuesday, everyone! How is your week going so far? The days are winding down until next year…2021. Wow! I am excited to see what 2021 bring us. Despite the heartache and hardship of 😷2020😷, I hesitate to say the year was completely awful. While covid-19 personally affected my family in a few ways (like many others), my grandmother (my only living grandparent now) was recently diagnosed with cancer (I have lost 3 family members to cancer), I struggle with IBS, and my long term relationship ended….2020 still brought some good things: I graduated from university, did well on my MCAT, applied to medical school, got a job, started blogging and reading again, etc. I guess my point of this is, there are no stars without darkness. 🌌 Don’t get me wrong, those hardships were hard to get through – they still are. And I know there are others out there who have it worse. But we cannot possibly enjoy the good if there is no bad. If we choose to focus on the bad, we make that our reality, but if we look to the good… that becomes our reality and we face adversity with a readiness to succeed. These are just my thoughts! Please do not misconstrue them for anything else. I am just trying to spread some positivity and perspective as others have done for me; it made the difference between becoming lost in grief and despair versus looking forward to the better things ahead.❤️

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely Jana @ThatArtsyReaderGirl. Every week, there is a new topic and, in our TTT posts, we list 10 items that pertain to the chosen topic of the week. The topic of this week is “favorite books of 2020.”

  3. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
  4. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
  5. The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson
  6. Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan
  7. The Near Witch by VE Schwab
  8. From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata
  9. Outbreak! by Mary Skwarecki
  10. Hunted by Meagan Spooner
