Happy TTT everyone! How is your week looking so far?
TTT is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ThatArtsyReaderGirl. Each week, there is a new topic that we then answer in the form of 10 list items. This week’s topic is “Characters I’d Name a Pet After” submitted by Nushu @Not A Prima Donna Girl.
I have to admit, this topic really excites me, but it also scares me. 😂 We have all read so many books and I keep thinking to myself, how will I pick 10 names about of the thousands of characters I have read about?! So. I decided to change it up a bit and include my two present pups’ names and 8 future names.
Present🐶
Gatsby – The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
We call him Gatsby or Gatz. He is a sassy little man who thinks he is all that and a bag of treats! Something unique about him is that he will lay his face on (or crush) your cheek or wrap his body around your neck like a bloody scarf. Oh, and he loves to legitimately peck you on the lips with his muzzle. 😆
Boo Arthur Radley – To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
We call him Boo, Boo Arthur, and BRadley. 🥰 He is a very Zen dog, but he can be pretty playful, too!
Future🐶
Tessa – The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
I would love to name a future Cavalier King Charles Spaniel after Tessa from The Infernal Devices.
Daisy – The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
I mean.. my Gatsby needs his Daisy, right?!
Scout – To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I think this is such a fun name for a pet!
Pogo – The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter
Okay so this is a character’s name in TGT… it is the main character’s (Kate) dog’s name, but it still counts and I think it is such a cute name for a pup!
Katsa – Graceling by Kristin Cashore
I like the way this name sounds and I think it would make a neat pet name!
Kestrel – The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski
I think this is such a unique name and fell in love with it right away when reading TWC!
Elfie – I’ll Always Love You by Hans Wilhelm
This is definitely a sentimental pick for me. It is a children’s book dog character, but I absolutely loved this book as a child (even though it is a bit sad). I still have my worn copy. ❤️
Lady – Lady and the Tramp
As a cavalier lover and owner, I just had to! Lady is such a beautiful, distinguished name and it suits the cavalier disposition and look perfectly. My mom, sister and I literally watch Lady and the Tramp just to fawn over little Lady. 😁
I know this is number 11… but I had to add:
Grimalkin, from the Iron Fey Series! I think this would be such a great cat name.
I think any of these names would be great for a cat or a dog! Or whatever pet suits your fancy! I am partial to dogs, but I do like cats… I am allergic now though. But I have had a couple of cats during my lifetime so cats will always have a special place in my heart. 😊 What did you guys think about my name choices? Let me know in the comments!
Hope you guys enjoyed this week’s TTT post! Be sure to link your post in the comments so I don’t miss it!! 💖

Aw! I love that you have book character inspired pet names! Our pup is Winnie, not like the Pooh. She’s black and white. I wish it was based on a book, so I call her Pooh sometimes.

Hahah! I like the name Winnie a lot — like the Pooh or no. 😊 Pooh is a cute nickname, though! Thanks for stopping by!
